python-pkg-resources software package provides Package Discovery and Resource Access using pkg_resources, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install python-pkg-resources
python-pkg-resources is installed in your system.
Make ensure the python-pkg-resources package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep python-pkg-resources *
You will get with python-pkg-resources package name, version, architecture and description in a table
